I don't get what's going on with my family lately. We are normally very healthy and hardly ever get sick, but we are on round 2 of fever/cold symptoms in our house since Thanksgiving. First oldest DD had it, then older DS, followed closely by younger DS, then DH, now the older two kids are both sick again today! Luckily neither myself nor the baby have been sick, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I need some home remedies to treat this and prevent it from happening again!

I'm going to get some vitamin d supplements for them tomorrow, I'm making a huge pot if chicken soup right now, and a friend is giving me a recipe for elderberry syrup. Any other tried and true homeopathic remedies?

Eccinacea? More vitamin C?

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Sorry you've all been sick. Hope you feel better soon.

God bless!

Thanks. I'll boost the vitamin c, too. Unfortunately we have an echinacea allergy.

Just yesterday I came across the "wet sock treatment." Google it; it sounds interesting, but I haven't tried it yet.

We always do wet socks! Its funny how something that becomes so seconds nature to you you can forget to mention. We've been doing wet socks for a few years. On us and the kids.

fresh ginger! (even though that nor any of the other things mentioned above are homeopathic- homeopathy is little dissoveable tablets that are symptom specific)....anyway, ginger are garlic are awesome immune boosters. I keep sliced ginger in the freezer and also a jar of lemon, honey and ginger in my fridge to give as cough syrup or to put in tea or hot water.

You can also do zycam as soon as symptoms start.

Oh, I didn't realize homeopathy only referred to those little pills. Learn something new everyday!

How do you administer the ginger to kids? Does the ginger soak in the honey and lemon and you only give them the liquid, or do you feed them a slice of it? The elderberry syrup recipe I found has finger and honey in it. I'm excited to try it, I just hope I can get out to get the ingredients!

Homeopathy does not just included the little pills. Homeopathy can be a diluted liquid formula. That being said my kids ped is a nurse practitioner and a naturopath/ homeopath. She recommends all the treatments I suggested.
