What would you put in a game basket??
When we were playing Sorry at my aunts house the other day she mentioned wishing they had more games. So guess what her family is getting for Christmas!! lol
I plan to get Trouble as that is the game we were talking about at the time. But I'm not sure what else to put in it. Her kids are grown (18 and 24)but my kids would love to play with them as well (7 and 10). Here's what I was thinking so far. Trouble Uno Phase 10 Snack foods Soda Any other ideas?? Wish I could put in microwave popcorn, but they don't have a microwave.

My kids love apples to apples. You could get the regular version so the adults can play. Your kids could easily play with help. I would put it all in a nice basket the they could use for storage. Maybe add a few trinkets as "prizes". Do they drink? My family always used to get together to play UNO and Kahlua was always served.you could add a bottle of something.
Era- how about a stove top popcorn maker? Sent from my iPad using DS Forum

Re: What would you put in a game basket??
I think uno is pretty similar to phase 10. I prefer phase 10 so I'd keep that but perhaps replace uno with banagrams? I keep thinking about buying it because I have heard several people talk about it. It's a little more $ but different. Maybe a few mechanical pencils and a notepad for scorekeeping?

Re: What would you put in a game basket??
Headbanz! I always get a game for the family on Thanksgiving (& again on Christmas Eve) this year we got Headbanz and it was enjoyable for the kids and DH & I. Christmas Eve we are getting Twister.
FYI: There are $5 coupons inside the specially marked boxes of Uno. Also, there Hasbro coupons and a rebate form out there.

Re: What would you put in a game basket??
Depends on how much money you are able to spend.
Games we really enjoy (and our kids do at those ages) include: Carcassone Settlers of Catan Sequence Clue Battleship Dweebies Rat-a-Tat-Cat Forbidden Island Moose in the House Monopoly Mastermind Some of those are for 2 players, but most can be played with multiple people. ETA: As Uno and Phase 10 in many ways are similar, you might look into either leaving one of them out, or doing one of the alternate versions. Phase 10 Dice maybe, or one of the special Uno games. |

dominoes, skip-bo, rook, traditional cards, scrabble, upwords, pick up stix. See if you can find that jiffy pop popcorn, the kind you do over the stove? I love that stuff!

Re: What would you put in a game basket??
You could put in some decks of playing cards and include a book of games (or print out rules for some games).
Our all time favorite games are Dominion and Cargo Noir. Some of our other favorites we play with our kids (ages 10, 8, and 7) are Ticket to Ride, Around the World in 80 Days, Exago, Pandemic (It's like Forbidden Island, but for adults, although we play it with our older children, they just need advice because it's a cooperative game, where either the game wins, or the humans win), Qwirkle. Our favorite 2-player games are Hive and GIPF (There's a whole series of these, they're really simple strategy games (simple to learn, difficult to win!). Our favorites in this series are GIPF, Yinsh, and Zertz. DH really likes Punct.) We LOVE board games! If you want descriptions of any of these games, lmk.

Re: What would you put in a game basket??
Spot-It
Fluxx Lost Cities (two-player, but probably the best 2-player card game ever) Apples to Apples Man Bites Dog Spill and Spell There's a site on Pinterest with printable score sheets for pretty much any game, might be a nice addition to the basket to print out a few and include the link. Add in some golf pencils, dice (standard and many-sided), a baggie of poker chips or bingo chits, maybe an old-fashioned bar puzzle tied to the ribbon?
