Please reassure me that nursing my 17 mo old is NOT causing me to M/C - loss mention
My 17 month old nursers like a 3 month old most days and nights. Last month I got a BFP and the tests were nice and dark and then a week later I lost it.
I just got another BFP yesterday, it's light but there. I am trying to give this over to the Lord but just need to hear words of encouragement that nursing my dd is not causing me to lose these babies.

No your nursling is not causing that. If anything the extra progesterone that you get from nursing still would better your chances of good implantation. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost 5 babies before getting DS2. Unfortunately, it happens. Many of my BFPs were really light. I hope this is your sticky bean. I will be sending you a ton of sticky baby dust!

I have m/c while breastfeeding and also nursed through 2 pregnancies. If your body feels ready and capable of conceiving, chances are that breastfeeding won't change that.
Sometimes m/c's just happen. I felt good continuing to nurse knowing that I was meeting the needs of the child I had. I couldn't be guaranteed that a pregnancy would guarantee a baby, and I didn't want to wean only to miscarry anyway. <hugs>

Thanks so much ladies. Intellectually I KNEW it would be fine but as you all know m/c seems to change everything in your thinking. I am so glad to know it helps with progestreone!! That would be my other concern. I have never had low progesterone before but I have also never conceived at 41 before!! lol I didn't plan on weaning as there is NO WAY it would work dd is a boobie monster!! Thank you thank you thank you for reaffirming what I believed.

Re: Please reassure me that nursing my 17 mo old is NOT causing me to M/C - loss ment
So sorry mama. Is it possible it's related? Well, anything is possible. But it's EXTREMELY unlikely. That early of a loss was probably a chemical pregnancy, meaning an egg got fertilized, but was never really capable of becoming a baby. Most losses prior to 12 weeks occur because of errors in cell division that make the fetus not viable - ie, something goes wrong outside of our control and means the baby is incapable of surviving. I've had 2 losses (one stillbirth, one miscarriage), and it's so easy to blame yourself, and wonder what you did wrong. You did nothing wrong mama.

So sorry Mama, maybe go and see your Doctor. Get your progesterone tested since some people need to supplement theirs. I personally don't like the term chemical pregnancy, you lost a baby, cry, grieve and see if there is anything to do to keep the baby you have.

Thanks so much ladies. My dh and I discussed me getting my betas done if AF stays away. So far so good and that's good enough for now.

Re: Please reassure me that nursing my 17 mo old is NOT causing me to M/C - loss ment
I don't 100% trust betas or ultrasound (not to be difficult). DD#3 was born August 2012 despite an inconclusive ultrasound, non-doubling betas, and heavy bleeding. It wasn't until she was visible on ultrasound at 8+ weeks that we were sure either way (perhaps vanishing twin?). Take care of yourself. Allow yourself to cry because either way, it is an highly emotional time.
