Re: Babies over 9lbs- can you share the birth weights of your children?
DD1 9lbs 10oz, induced ceasarian @ 39w2d
DD2 7lb 2oz, induced VBAC @ 39w6d I probably ate a bit healthier with DD2 than DD1, but not by terribly much. I didn't have GD with either pregnancy. My oldest was induced and ultimately sectioned because my OB was impatient and thought she must be ENORMOUS. My youngest I fought tooth and nail against being induced, but ultimately gave in as I was borderline pre-eclamptic, and getting slowly worse. It wasn't the med free waterbirth I envisioned, but it was a VBAC, which is close enough for me.

Re: Babies over 9lbs- can you share the birth weights of your children?
Two of mine were over 9.
9lbs 2oz and 9lbs 3oz. No GD and no blood sugar problems for the babies. Don't be fearful of baby getting stuck. You already proved you can birth a big baby. Sometimes small babies get stuck too. There is nothing you can do when baby is position just the wrong way. A good midwife or OB will get them out with proper maneuvers.

Re: Babies over 9lbs- can you share the birth weights of your children?
While I honestly have never given birth to a baby over 9 lbs (8 lbs 4 oz was my biggest so far) I do think it should be possibly for you to deliver naturally. To avoid your child "getting stuck" you should try a different position where gravity can help you out (standing, squatting or on all fours).
You can't tell how big your baby is until he is born, unfortunately. My last one looked bigger than any other (my belly was way out there), but was actually not the biggest. I hope everything goes the way you want it to during your birth! |

Re: Babies over 9lbs- can you share the birth weights of your children?
Coworker just had an 11 pound 5 oz baby, #2 (#1 was also large but not that big). No pain meds, vaginal delivery, no health issues for mama or baby. I'm impressed!

Re: Babies over 9lbs- can you share the birth weights of your children?
My first was 9 lbs 1 oz, and my second was 8 lbs 13 oz. I totally thought my second was going to be as much if not more than my first but that wasn't the case. This time, with my third on the way I'm hoping baby will be at least as big as his/her second sister but I'm happy if s/he is bigger too. With both I didn't have GD or baby have any blood sugar issues. (I was only 8 lbs at birth and DH was 7 lbs ?oz -- so we were expecting a "smaller" baby the first time
)ETA: With DD#1 I was induced (by choice... young/uneducated in birthing/impatient) with an epi but a vaginal delivery. With DD#2 I had a homebirth. With both I didn't have any issues with a baby getting stuck or needing assistance with delivery.

My ds was 9lbs 6oz and he got stuck (shoulder dystocia) it was really scary. He was massive compared to my DD who was 7lbs 1oz. I'm pregnant again and very nervous about having another big baby..

Re: Babies over 9lbs- can you share the birth weights of your children?
9 lb 11 oz
8 lb 13 oz 9 lb 14 oz 8 lb 4 oz No rhyme or reason for my big babies to be big or my small babies to be small.

My first two were both 10lbs 7oz.
Then my third was 8lbs 12oz. No gestational diabetes or major diet differences. Also no reason that my big babies were big and my small one was small.
