Two RF in a 2002 Subaru Outback?

Well, in our downsizing to afford the fancy daycare for 2 kids, we sold our 2011 Ford Escape and are inheriting my BIL (who inherited from the inlaws) 2002 Subaru Outback. Is it possible to get two RF carseats side by side? We'd like to keep the space behind the drivers seat open since when DZh puts it where he likes it touches our Britax Boulavard. Newbie comes in June, so it would start out as a bucket seat and a convertible. I'm guessing we might have to get radians, but then do you think it is possible?

Alternatively, we could have the bucket behind the driver and when the newbie outgrows it, turn DS FF. He would be at least 2.5 yrs at that point. Do you think that is too early for FF? He's a small fry, 22 lbs at 19 months.

Radians don't tend to play well with Outbacks in that age range. I'm sure you can get two in there, but you might need to try a variety of seats.

ETA: pushed send before I finished by thought process

It's ok for the seat to touch the Blvd. That's certainly an option if you can't get two side by side.
