Re: Tips for Mail carrier and UPS driver?

My last carrier was awesome so I tipped him, not much just a $10 dunkin donuts card. My new carrier not so nice or at least not yet, she's still new, just started in October so I'm not going to tip, maybe if I'm feeling ambitious she'll get some food but that'll be it.

Last year we gave our mailman a card with a $25 gift card in it. That guy was awesome!! The workers at the PO counter are fantastic, too.

My pastor just talked about tipping his trash men. I wish I had thought of that. Those guys hustle and are always smiling. I've even had them offer to help me move furniture. We just moved (only 2 miles away), but it seems our new trash and mail guys are just as excellent. I never thought about the UPS guy, since he doesn't come as often, but he is very friendly as well.

Our UPS - eh, I used to date him. Giving a xmas gift would be WAY past awkward. lol Even getting parcels is more of a "here's your stuff, see ya!" and a fast getaway back down my driveway! lol

That is too funny! Way too awkward for me, too!

Our trash and recycling men are inmates. I'm guessing any type of gift would be frowned upon.

We've never done a gift, but when DH and I worked opposite schedules (he was home during the day) he really liked our mail lady. She'd sit at our mail box and beep the horn so he could come get a package or to give one to her.

I hadn't even thought about it but maybe we should have the twins hand her a little something one day closer to Christmas!

My FIL is a recently retire postal carrier. He actually was my mail man when I lived with my parents. I asked him what a good Christmas gift was, he told me no less than $20. He said he got up to $100 at Christmas time. Bottles of wine and chocolates. So I'm not sure about rules but he obviously didn't follow them

That being said, my mail man is getting a $10 GC. He's a nice guy that FIL actually got him his job. He joked with DH the other day that our house receives the most packages on his route lol.

That's interesting. I've never heard of inmates doing it. I'm guessing they were non-violent offenders ??

My grandma use to give a gift every year to the mailman. His name was George (Ha! I still remember him). She use to gossip with him all the time about the neighbors and he was in general a total snoop!
