We have 4 tracfones and refill with the one year air time with 1450 minutes (400 mins. that triples on our phones and usually I can find an additional 250 minute bonus) for $85 so about $7 a month/per phone.
My husband and I have these phones:

My 2 oldest boys have these phones:

Talk time deducts minute per minute/ web deducts 1/2 minute per minute used/ text deducts 1/3 minute per text.

My husband, myself, and my oldest son all have 4th generation ipod touches and they message between each other just like iphones. Plus my bff and my mom have iphones and I can message and facetime with them- all for free wherever there is wifi. The ipods also have several texting apps like Pinger that allow you to text anyone for free as well. And of course you can use internet for free on them with wifi.
We have wifi at home, I have wifi at my college, my husband has it at the hospital he works at, and our oldest son's middle school also has it.
We do still have a home phone through Voipo and pay about $6 a month for that.

So for 4 cell phones and a home phone we pay under $35 per month.

We use Straight Talk.. I do the $45 a month unlimited plan with an iPhone 4S and my husband uses the $30 plan with a ST phone. We can't beat the price for the services we get.

Republic Wireless, $40/month, 2 lines, full data, unlimited everything. We've been happy with the service and you definitely can't beat the price!

$189 for 4 phones....

1 has 4 g data, 1 has 2 g data and all 4 are unlimited txt and talk (to other Verizon customers) and 700 min outside of Verizon . 2 kids are on my plan, 2 are on xhs. We don't have home phones, share a car and have joint custody so need the cells. Dh got the gig plans when we had more $ and now we r stuck on contract.

This is us too, we data share and dh has wifi at work so I hog the data.

We pay 73 for 2 smart phones(samsung galaxy), dh gets unlimited everything (he's on an awesome plan that they now dont offer but he's stayed on), I don't get much about $100 calls/texts and a small amt of data but I rarely use mine, it's mostly so that the kids can contact me. I am in Australia with vodafone.
