another ? about castor oil, but not really...

So, if CO is supposed to work by giving you the runs and stimulating contractions, would you think that if another food(ice cream in my case!) gives you the runs, that it would work in the same way?

I have no interest in trying CO, but have been craving ice cream and am overdue...LOL.

it more works by inducing cramping, the runs are a side effect.

I would suppose that anything that caused your stomach to cramp could be used in the same way as castor oil, but I can't think of anything for myself that causes cramps.

I am lactose intolerant and dairy messes with my tummy quite a bit, but I guess I never thought of them as cramps.

either way, you could try it. No one ever said 'don't eat ice cream!' to an overdue preggo that I'm aware of

That's not why it works... it causes diarrhea which causes your intestines to contract and since your uterus is right on top of them, it knocks your uterus into contractions.

Worked for me But the runs and vomiting before going into labor weren't fun.

Just wanted to update, yes I tried it. It didn't work, and I did have a terrible tummy ache. Guess he just wasn't ready...
