I believe she has one client at the beginning of February but the whole month on March open....honestly I'm not worried about March. I'm worried about February. Not kids came two weeks early and she has a mama due two weeks from my due date.

I'm mobile.... sorry for the typos!

Well, I think you need to know with #2 how the other client's babies bake, because if the other one is due early Feb but tends to go to 42 weeks, then you would have her due same time as you think you will deliver, and that would put you in the same situation as with #1.

Does doula #2 have a backup? If she does or even has a more open schedule, I'd go with her. Peace of mind is worth the price IMHO.

I would have chosen number two as well, mostly because high-energy and fun is the type of person I like to be around. I prefer a midwife to be more high-energy and fun and don't need or want the maternal type.

For your situation, I would choose whoever could commit to being there when you are in labor and giving birth, since your hubby might not be and what else are you paying a doula for anyway?

I am a military wife with a deployed dh. If it were me I'd go with whichever has the best chance of making the delivery. Sounds like both have clients sort of by your edd?

I am actually glad you asked this question because I found one doula I liked and stopped looking but it didn't occur to me that she, too, might have a conflict like this so thats a good question to ask.

#2 does have a back up. She has a mama due in the middle of March. She is expecting her second and went "late" last time.

I would go with #2. I like fun! And I wouldn't want to alone during labor! But the price of #1 is so good!

Re: Doula help- what would you do?!

I thought it was common courtesy to have a backup? Around here we always do. I wouldn't want to pay 800$ for a doula that I didn't click with or that would stress me out, and let's be honest, there's always a chance that the doula will miss it. I'd probably go with number one but ask her to schedule a backup.

Re: Doula help- what would you do?!

Even though #1 doesn't have a backup is there anyway for you to have to backup? Would it be horrible to ask #2 to be backup doula (it may be I have no idea). Is their any family or friends that can be backup?
