I nursed DS until I was 25 weeks with DD. I gained 36 with him, and 34 with her. He was born 9 lbs 3 oz, she was born 9 lbs 9 oz.

I gained 40, same as the first time. My second baby was a pound and a half bigger and 2 inches longer. Clearly, nursing didn't affect anything!

Take care of yourself, eat and drink enough and read Adventures In Tandem Nursing, even if you don't think you'll want to tandem.

I BF during two pregnancies. My two oldest are only 16 months apart, so I exclusively BF my oldest for a few months while pregnant. My MW wasnt crazy about the idea, but I kept my nutrition up (well, after 4 months of morning sickness, anyway). My milk never dried up, DS1 gained weight well, and DS2 was my biggest baby - so I think my body handled it fine. I think it is more of a socially weird thing to BF while pregnant than a health thing.

I really don't think nursing has much to do with it at all. I gained 30lbs with my first pregnancy and (no BFing during 2nd pregnancy) only about 20lbs total with my second, including with the 10lbs I lost in the 1st trimester.

Keep nursing as long as you feel good and baby is healthy. Your body knows what to do- you'll suffer from nutrition loss before either baby. Eat healthy and drink lots and enjoy this pregnancy!!
