I can do both, but I prefer knit. Crochet hurts my hands while knit doesn't. Plus I like the look of knit much better.

Re: Knit vs. Crochet

I do both. I like to crochet better (faster, easier for me), but there are better/more patterns available for knit, so I like knitted items better, and it (usually) uses less yarn.

I've picked up faster on crocheting than I have on knitting.

I love both, but I think knit is better for garments. Crochet is better for crafts, felting, hats, and blankets.

Re: Knit vs. Crochet

Depends on what I'm making, to whether I prefer knit or crochet. I like to knit for garments to wearm crochet for pretty much anything else.
I knew how to knit for 4yrs before I could fully comprehend crochet.

Re: Knit vs. Crochet

Depends on the project. Crochet is much easier for me to make my own patterns with, but the yarn goes much further with knitting, I feel. I like knitting better for garments, and crochet for blankets and other thick projects.

Btw, I crocheted for like a decade before I finally got the hang of knitting, and the thing that really helped was learning to knit continental-style. It feels a lot like crocheting, and it is tons faster. Knitting English-style is a chore for me and makes my hands hurt.

Re: Knit vs. Crochet

I've know how to crochet for a few years, but haven't done much with it.
I'm just learning to knit, so that I can knit longies. Crocheted longies tend to have holes.
But knitting seems so slow! 5th day on the first sock when I can crochet a hat in 3 days (or an afternoon if I'm making it for a newborn).

My grandmother taught me to crochet (but she can't knit), my mom can knit but not crochet, and I can only crochet, though I've never actually tried to knit. It looks complicated when I watch how to videos.
