That's it, I gave in and did it.

I've vented a few times about my older dd and how much she just loves to drive me WAY beyond bonkers. Well, she is getting worse again so instead of losing my mind we are going to see a therapist. I took her when she was 2 and that didn't go so well. I waited a year and had an appointment to take her but got discourged because I felt that it'd make me a bad mom (like I can't control my own child). WEll here she is 4 years and 8 months old and something has to be done. I am on the verge of giving up with her and I just really want to like her again. I love her but honestly most days I don't "like" her very much (i feel guilyt saying it but it's so true). The past few days she's had me crying and I decided to just go to the therapist. I really hope it helps, he is supposed to be awesome with kids that have similiar issues. Dh agrees that something is certainly not right and since dd and I are constantly butting heads that's not good. Please wish us luck this Friday and a prayer or two would help. I want a happy child, the one I have is just so miserable.

I'm sorry, I guess I've missed the posts regarding her behavior. Could she possibly have an allergy to food dyes? They can result in behavior problems. There is a thread in Off Topic Chat about it - and a post regarding some info at the Feingold site.
Good luck with the appointment, I hope they can help.

for the fun of it, I happen to have that site in my favorites.. lol

www.feingold.org

I wish you the best of luck.. But if worst comes to worst, maybe you could just go to a couple classes or something to help you deal with her Behavior? I have no clue if they have these kinds of classes.. but if they do, it's worth a shot.

I remember a post by you a while ago about your daughter. I'm sorry to hear things haven't gotten better. It must be rough. It makes me feel better about the BS I get to deal with taking care of my 2 1/2 year old. lol

Re: That's it, I gave in and did it.

You know, I remember thinking the same thing about my daughter a few months ago after we had dd#2. Before baby came, dd #1 was a sweet gentle child. I worked very hard to help her become a sweet, gentle good natured child. And sometime after I had dd#2, dd#1 changed into another whole child and I remember thinking many times that I just don't like the child she has become. I mourn the loss of my original Hazel. She is getting slowly better and I can't really point all the blame on the arrival of her younger sister as there were some other things that happened around that same time as well. Luckily, she seems to be getting a little better or at least heading in the right direction now. Good luck, I will be thinking of you.

Re: That's it, I gave in and did it.

I was in that same spot when Jason was 3-5 yrs old
I loved him but really didn't like him iykwim

the best thing we did was let grandma and grandpa take him on a trip with them for 10 day
we got the break we needed to regroup and he got the one on one he craved
we are so much better as a family now
we do have him on meds and we have gone to therapy

I can say at 9 we love and like him ( he is a great kid)
it took us a long time to get there and somedays I'm back to square one but we are all doing better

pm me if you need to talk
I will be out this afternoon
