Re: can you share your envelope system!

Here's ours from last year as a monthly budget. We haven't sat down and done a new one for this year with the new family goals.

Activities (Family) $25.00
Christmas/Gifts $35.00
Clothing $75.00
Dating $50.00
Electronics $50.00 (basically saving for new computers)
Food Storage/Emergency Prepardness $42.00 (this included 72 hr kit, long-term water storage, buckets/shelving, canning supplies, camping equipment etc...so not really "food") This will almost go away this year since we are almost done getting what we need/want.
Gas $100.00
Groceries $300.00
Home & Lawn Maintenance $28.00
Home/Furnishings/Appliances Improvements $60.00
Miscellaneous $50.00
Vehicle Maintenance $22.00
Power $178.00
Water $100.00
Garbage $30.00
Internet/Phone $100.00
Tithing $760.00
Mortgage $1,310.00
Allowance/Blow Money $100.00
Insurance $105.00

The remaining extra goes to the house. We have no debt other than our mortgage.

I should add last year we had a HSA that was pretty well funded so I didn't need to budget for medical/prescriptions out of our paycheck.

Re: can you share your envelope system!

Just wanted to add ours are virtual envelopes. We use cash for grocery, misc, activity, and date fund. I use Franklin Covey envelopes in my wallet. Most of our other purchases/payments are online or with a debit card. Like gas just easier with a debit. We had always had enough in our fund to cover a full fill up.

We get two paycheck a month but it isn't realistic for us to pay half of the bills one paycheck and half the other because different things are due different days. Before the month starts I've already made my spreadsheet with how much is going in each category, but then I sit down and list out which paycheck pays for what, depending on where it falls in the month.
This is exactly what we do!! and how my DH gets paid.
