Nice when the kids are both off school and they can play together, so I can do some good cleaning out.

1919. Those French doors go into DS play closet. (Considered a half bedroom back in the day)

Does it count if we lend ppl stuff such as diapers (since it will be a while before I get them back)?

Awesome! Last year I surpassed 2,012 but just kept counting because it made decluttering more fun when I was keeping track of things.

I have counted the things that I've passed on to my friend, even though I know that some of it will be coming back. I mostly gave her stuff I didn't expect to keep, though, and I know that when she gives some of it back I will probably get rid of a lot of it anyway. When she returns the stuff, I won't "recount" anything I decide to donate, though.

There aren't really any rules, there isn't really any cheating... because, really, if you feel like you're cheating it's only against yourself.

I feel good about my numbers because I'm honest about them, in the parameters I have chosen for myself. I don't count regular stuff that I'd get rid of on a daily basis, like mail or general trash. The exception to that is if it is something that had cluttered up an area of my house and I had to work to get rid of it. I also don't usually count individual papers, but rather stacks or bags of things like papers, cards, etc. When I estimate things (for example, when I purged picture stuff yesterday) I always underestimate the total. I figure that gives me a bit of leeway, too, especially if anything comes back into the house.

2,014 items in 2014?

I could probably hit 2,013 items if my DH would purge out old tshirts!

I am joining this challenge as well, and hope to really make a good dent in the stuff we have here. Our home just feels so cramped and cluttered at times.

So far this week I have purged 30 Christmas items and 25 bathroom items:
