2,013 Items in 2013!

I'm joining! We have so much to get rid of...I have a big box of unopened nonperishable food items that I listed on freecycle a few days ago, and once it's out I'll put it in my list then its off to sorting clothes! We're determined to cut our clothing pile (and yes, it's ALL a pile) in half tomorrow! We can do it!

Yay! It's going to be a great year.

You don't have to be a minimalist to join in. I know I'm not. But I cut way back in 2012, and it was very freeing to get rid of stuff. I have a lot more to do, and more stuff made its way back in, but my mentality and standards have definitely changed.

I'll never be a "true minimalist," but this thread is for those of us who have any decluttering goals for the new year. I want to pare down, live more simply, have less excess stuff, and have a home that is easier to maintain.

Good luck everyone. I'll be waiting until to tomorrow to start, but I hope everyone starting sooner is already finding lots to get rid of.

I'm in. I'll start tomorrow! DH thought this was a great idea b/c he's been dying for us to become more minimalist but we have a LONG way to go to get there so this is just a start to declutter for us. In addition, I told him in 2013 I will also follow a 1 in 1 out rule (not for groceries/trash but for "stuff" - if I buy a shirt, then I need to get rid of something out of the closet.) We literally have unpacked boxes in our attic from when we moved into this house in 2003...seriously, we need to purge! Thanks for starting this thread, this is going to be the motivation I need and something to help me hold myself accountable!

Today I purged a picture, a shelf, a box of probably 50 changing pads, and 2 more baby toys.

So 63 things gone!

ETA4: 4 More items, a Cotton Babies magnetic calender, Halloween costume for monster baby, a too small jacket & a bottle of spray that is supposed to deter cats from scratching. Doesn't work, my steps are proof,
