I took Grace to the pediatrician today to have her eczema looked at since it was getting really bad. She said she has seen about 20 confirmed cases of the flu this year alone (there are 8 other doctors and practitioners, so there have actually been more) as opposed to a couple of cases last year. She said of all those cases she's seen this year all but one had not received the flu shot. And that case was really mild. She said they are seeing Type A and B, and that this strain has been particularly miserable...fever and coughing for 7+ days. That's enough to make me get it every year forever!
I still have a stupid cough left over , I've had the flu four times in my life, this season was worse than all the others combined, hands down.

Here's my big girl, I seriously can't believe she is 16 months already, she gets more spirited every day

Melissa, she is a doll! I love her little smile- it's the tiniest bit mischievous and so very girly.

You guys are freaking me out with the flu stories. Now I wonder if we should get vaxed. Is it too late in the season?

Nope! It is not too late. The whole reason the flu topic even came up with our ped today was because she was still encouraging anyone who had not gotten it to get one. I get the FluMist for the older girls, and the injection for Brynn. Just so you know if your kids have never gotten the flu shot before and are 9 and under, they have to get a second booster a month after their first shot. You won't have to do that next year.

Didn't mean to freak you out, it's just that you know how it is having a larger family. Heaven forbid everyone get the flu and it lasts a week, that's a lot of sick time. And you know how it goes, not everyone gets sick at the exact same time...it's always staggered, making it last forever!

Completely understand. Oh my boys HATE shots. Nathan was in tears when he heard me schedule his kindergarten appointment. He knows there are shots with that one. A few of his friends have done theirs. Ill have to give it some thought.

The idea of not being the flu house for 6 weeks should be incentive enough.

Britt, a couple of years ago, ds1 got the flu mist, he couldn't have been more than 4, so I bet all your guys could get that instead of the shot.

That's a good idea. I think I'll call the ped tomorrow and see when their walk-in shot clinic is open.

Do they have to sniff it? I don't think my 5 year old would sniff something up his nose....
