Nervous!!!
Was using the Doppler today and found baby boo's heart beat just above my pubic bone right of my belly button WAY down low. Then I jokingly said to DH "let's check here to make sure there isn't 2." so I moved the Doppler to the left of my belly button about a 1/4 inch lower than belly button. Could there be 2 babies or could I have heard 1 baby heart beat 4-5 inches apart???

Probably the baby and the placenta.

Why would the placenta have a heartbeat?

Bc there is blood flow through it. It does sound a little different though. Like echo-y kind of.

Re: Nervous!!!
The placenta definitely has a sound, like a hb but different, but there is a "pulsing" sound from it. It's closer in bpm to mom's hb, though.

I believe someone posted a thread like this before. It ended up being an echo of the baby's heartbeat!

Re: Nervous!!!
It could also be your heartbeat. I had a medical student at the hospital check for the baby's heart beat for monitoring and told me it was twins. I knew through several U/S it wasn't be they wouldn't listen. Finally the doctor came in and told them that was my heartbeat.lol After that I asked to only see the doctors!
