So I have an Ultrasound at 2pm, a MW appointment at 3pm and a family dinner at 6pm. So I want to bring a cake. I thought it would be fun to tint white cake blue for a boy or use the strawberry cake if its a girl. I've never eaten this strawberry cake.... I have two packets of instant chocolate moose to fill it with and white frosting for the outside.... is it going to taste okay with chocolate moose filling? This won't be a problem if its a boy.... but I'd like to be prepared. lol.

Well, chocolate does get paired with strawberry a lot. It is kind if a fake strawberry taste. Like strawberry ice cream or the frosting on the pink donuts at Dunkin Donuts. Personally I prefer vanilla frosting with it.

I also prefer it with vanilla. It's one of my favorite cake mixes and I can only get it when I drive down to the US and bring one back to Canada.

Somewhere online I found a recipe for strawberry cake that's actually white cake with real strawberries and I think strawberry gelatin. That would work better, I think, with chocolate icing than the boxed strawberry.

It comes out pink, but tastes more like genuine strawberries than the mix.

Otherwise, I'd go for vanilla or a cheesecake frosting.
