I guess the research never ends...

Now looking into large prefolds for my 7 month old!

My older DD started wearing medium Imagine yellows at 7 months (folded over for a long time) and potty trained in them. I thought it'd be the same for future kids and I'd ever have to buy another prefold or research sizes ever again.

....but they are getting hard to snappi on my little 7 month old! She's not even that big! She started wearing them around 4-5 months and never had to fold down the rise. She's only like 17 lbs now but they are just fitting her very strangely...kinda short in the rise which is why I chose them for my older DD in the first place! But it makes it hard to get a good spread to snappi them neatly.

I have one random rainbow Zabi that fits her great that NEVER fit my older DD without folding over. So weird!

Do I wait it out and see if she thins out some as she starts crawling and walking? Or start researching larges? The imagines are still a good size for trifolding but I don't like trifolding PFs they seem really bulky between the legs. I like a nice trim snappied PF or a padfolded flat....

Isn't it crazy how different babies are shaped? My middle son was out of the Imagine Mediums before his 1st Birthday, and my 13 month old who actually weighs more than him at that age still wears them snappid. Have you tried the Imagine Larges yet? They really do Snappi/Boingo well on a bigger baby!

I would just get the larger size, only being 7mo old your LO could still get chunkier before starting to trim down.

Re: I guess the research never ends...

i use regular large pf's on my 18 lbs 7mo dd. i fold down front 2-3 inches, newspaper fold, then bikini twist and snappi for trimness b/t legs. works great b/c she's crawling so there there's added soaking power up front, bikini twist keeps leg gaps tight to catch majority poo. hope this fold will last til she's walking (1 yr old), then we'll just padfold flats in covers hopefully.

lol my ds had no butt as a baby, my dd has serious junk in her trunk

Just in case you missed this comparison thread - if you decide to do some research at least a lot of it has been done for you!

before you invest in large prefolds, try some boingos (instead of the snappi) which I believe allow you to use the pfs longer. You may not need the larges if your baby slims down in a few months. My DS was quite chubby at that age and now he still fits medium pfs at 20 months.
