Re: January Chat for Feb Mamas

Hey! I'm just now jumping in....I'm due Feb. 8 Anyway to Orangebananas, I just learned to knit around Thanksgiving and have been buying girly yarn like crazy (well, enough for 7 or 8 outfits). So, you are lucky to have a tradable sash...I don't even want to think about how much $$$ I've spent. I keep stalling while knitting some longies that have been a WIP since 1/6! I've SO gotta get with it.

When I went to the doc last last week, (1st weekly), I had no progression. After just a few Braxton hicks throughout the week, this past Thursday I was 1/2 cm. Since then, I've had about 10 contractions a day, so maybe ill be a bit closer OOOOOH, has anyone been feeling stabbing pains in your cervix? Especially when the baby moves? What is that? Thinning?

I spent 3 hours after my appointment looking for socks for her that were just right. Why are newborn socks either way big, terribly shaped, or so thin there really isn't any point in wearing them?

Re: January Chat for Feb Mamas

I started collecting yarn years ago, before I could even knit, so after a quite a few co-ops and a few years had passed, I had quite a bit of yarn It was ALL boyish, and then surprise, a baby girl. It helps to have knitting friends who have large stashes, too, who love to trade.

What brand did you end up buying for socks?

I *think* they were Little Me brand. I found them on clearance at Marshall's. They are really fluffy and look like they will fit a newborn well. I bought two packs of three for $3 each pack. IMO pretty ridiculous for so little material, but better than what the Carter's store was charging for some rinky dink socks.

I've had some of the stabbing pains in my cervix too when baby moves. It kinda an electrifying feeling huh. It's most likely your baby's head bumping up against your cervix or him/her punching it ha ha.

I'm not anxious at all. I'm so excited to have a beautiful, natural home birth. I'm also in no rush, baby will be healthiest by choosing his or her own due date. This has been a very easy pregnancy compared to last time, and I know very well that it's easier to take care of baby when he or she is still inside me than after they come out. I took ascorbic acid throughout the pregnancy to strengthen my amniotic sac so I'm curious to see if maybe baby will be born in the caul. Talking to and visualizing baby every day with Hypnobabies practice, I'm simply so calm and happy during these last few weeks.

Well I asked MIL. She said she was thinking us moving into the room AFTER her brother & sister came out "unless you felt strongly about it". I mentioned the PP bleeding stuff and since we didn't know how the baby was gonna be and she said "let me think on it". Gosh do a feel like a child again I think I'm just feeling a bit let down that hubby couldn't even try to ask her, kinda like I'm alone in wanting some more space with a baby being added into the mix.

On the bright side if she does want to wait, they will only be here for a weekend (the brother who will be staying here) but nonetheless we will still most likely have a 2-3 week old by then... And with having breastfeeding/supply needing to be established it would take away a whole lot of possible stress.

Re: January Chat for Feb Mamas

Yesterday, we did something we've been needing to do for month snow, but my DH had an appendicitis and by then we wanted to get through Christmas....switch all our bedrooms around! Now, we have a huge bedroom (we have a den and living room - we took the den as br) and each of our 3 children will have their own room. If our older 2 were younger, it wouldn't matter, but DD1 is 11 and is at the stage where she needs space, lol! and DS is 8. I am sooooooooooo excited about my new bedroom! It even has a fireplace! My dad built this house and I hope to have it in my possession as long as possible....the only thing we need now is another bathroom, which isn't super necessary. We never run into problems with waiting.

Yes, this LO was a big surprise for us!

Hey, at least she already had it on her mind. That tells me it's a go, just a matter of when even though it would be nice to be in before baby is born, like you said, it's just a weekend. I think her answer is good for y'all!
