Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure
Don't give up. Formula is worse. It really makes my baby spit up. For the first few months, my baby nursed around the clock. I hear this is normal. Now my baby is 9 months and only nurses every few hours. It gets better in time. Also, I did try some formula in the beginning when he was a month old. It seemed to help keep him full, but then again it made him spit up...

Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure
How old is your baby? My DD had bad reflux but suddenly stopped (mostly) when she was at 3.5 months old. She will have bad days where it seems like everything she ate was spit back up. My daughter also sleeps in bed with me and there was a month period where she wouldn't sleep unless she was in my arms. That recently changed also. Babies change so much! Don't give up Mama, your doing the best thing for her. Remember this is a once in a life time experience for us too, enjoy the time you get with her, she will one day want to run out of your arms.

Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure
Please get yourself to an IBCLC. You have a lot going on, and I would never quit until I exhausted ALL of my resources. A good LC will help!

Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure
My son is nearly 9 months and nurses alot at night while sleeping. He loves the boobie. He was STTN untill just recently. It comes and goes for sure.
At 5 mos her GI is still immature and laying down may make it worse, hence her wanting to nurse more often at night. Make sure to give her her meds as close to bed time as you can. THat way she is feeling her best when going down. Try to hold her a bit up right if possible when cosleeping. I know when my arm is under DS he is slightly elevated. That could help.

You need to do what is best for you, your baby, and your family not what everyone else thinks you should do. Is there someone IRL that you can talk to, a LLL memeber or LC. It really depends on how much you want to go through and put yourself through just to BF. To be completely honest with you--if I was in your shoes and dealing with all that I would go to formula.I love breastfeeding and think that is best only if it works. If I had all those issues, having to eleminate everything from my diet and not getting any sleep I wouldn't do it. I don't think formula is evil and has it's place. It sounds to me like you are completley overwellemed.

Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure
I wish I had good advice, but I do have
![]() I'd try talking to an LC, but whatever you decide, you are a good mom because you love, nurture, and care. Formula would not change that.

Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure
Hi
![]() Have you tried this? http://www.coliccalm.com/ It helped us so, so much with Noah. I also had to eliminate caffeine and even now only drink it in small amounts.
