Newborn cover advice?

I'm using fitteds made by me. I need covers. My babies tend to be around 8lbs and 21 inches long.

Recommendations for good covers??

I'd try Bummis.

I really like the Mommy's Touch newborn covers for noobs. They have a snap-down rise to keep the healing umbilicus exposed. I use those exclusively (rotated with longies) until the cord falls off.

My DS2 is two weeks old today and we are currently rotating:

Imse Vimse wool newborn size (which are still a bit large. He was born 7lbs 6oz).
Thirsties size small (big but doable with aplex)
Bumkins size small (run smaller than Thirsties. Fit well)
Thirsties Duo size 1
Wool Longies (cute AND warm)

Dappi nylon pull-ons are my favorite for the nb stage. They are cheap, light weight, and effective. Then, since they out grow them so quickly, you can spend your money on cute ones in the next sizes, which they will wear longer.

I have thiristies duo size 1. It's a wonderful cover and easy to use for newborn.

Re: Newborn cover advice?

If the fitted are sort of bulky I would say thirsties size 1 should work fine but if not the Velcro could rub on the cord.

My LO was 8lbs 7oz when he was born and I really liked the imse vimse preemie covers for the first couple weeks. NB prorap worked well also. After the first couple weeks the proraps started leaving red marks and I found myself favoring the Thirsties duo size 1. I used those mainly for the next 3 weeks until my flips fit and now I use flips or wool covers all the time I'm so glad I had a variety of covers because he grew so fast and changed shape just as quickly!
