Help with printing postage/DC from Paypal

Okay, sorry if these are silly questions but I've never done this before.

If I wanted to print out postage through Paypal... how exactly does that work? I only have a kitchen scale, what if my weight is off by a couple ounces - should I overestimate? Do you get the same discount printing through Paypal as you would printing through USPS? And is that how you get DC for 18 cents instead of 65 cents or whatever it is at the PO?

Then, do I just take the package to the post office and have them scan it or something, or can I leave it in my mailbox for the mailman to pick up?

Sorry so many questions... I just want to make sure I do this right!

The package I am sending is going Priority, if it matters.

Yep, I do. Some mamas have been charged for the difference. If you are shipping priority then I think it only changes at the pound mark.

I think so, but I haven't really shipped much through USPS.

Yep!

You can take it in and they may scan it for you or they'll refuse.....each PO seems to have their own rule about that. If it fits in your mailbox you can leave it there or you can request a free pick up through the USPS website.

Wow, so sometimes they refuse to scan it even at the post office. Thanks for this old thread. I was trying to figure out how well paypal shipping and leaving in my mailbox would work. It sounds like delivery confirmation is, in general, a bit dicey regardless of the method used but that leaving it in your mailbox is as good a gamble as any other....
