Canine autoimmune hemolytic anemia?

Has anyone ever had a dog diagnosed with this? What was the outcome?

This is likely the diagnosis our Boston terrier will get today after another blood count check. From what I've read, we're looking at about a 50/50 survival rate, with treatment necessary for life if she does survive, but things just are not looking good right now.
She's been on prednisone (sp?) since Friday, but she still is not eating or drinking on her own, vomits up what does go down, and hasn't moved from her nest in front of the heater vent more than a few times a day.

I just want to know what I should expect, but the vet is not being very helpful. I'm confident that she's taking care of the dog to the best of her ability, but she's not very thorough in her explanations and has downright refused to answer some questions. The only other vet in the area is CRAZY expensive, and this is already costing us a small fortune.

He was near death and made it...he had blood transfusions and a bone marrow BX to DX and was on meds for quite awhile but has been med free for years. I hope your dog is the same!! Re: Canine autoimmune hemolytic anemia?

My sis is super busy today but sent me this quick response, sorry doesn't seem to be that much more helpful:

Imha is a common autoimmune disease

It's not good. But some dogs due okay on immuno suppressive doses of steroids

Unfortunately it's not a straight answer as far as prognosis
