Diaper rash

My LO has had a diaper rash on and off for about 10 days. She just turned 6 months, she's BF, but we have tried a tiny amount of food - banana, avocado and sweet potato. We have been using cloth for about 2 months. I have tried coconut oil on her and it clears up right away, i have been using disposables and it goes away. When i use cloth it shows up again that day. We are using OS/pockets, BG, funky fluff, fuzzibunz,
Happy heinys, alva baby and grovia AIO. They are washed every 2-3 days in a kenmore front loader, pre-washed, then reg wash in hot with nature clean liquid. They don't smell bad, so am not sure if rash is from diapers or something else. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Wendy where is the rash? Is it all over her bum or localized?

If its in the whole diaper area I would consider stripping, we had a problem like that (red over the whole diaper area, mostly where the insert was) and my diapers weren't getting clean enough, striping worked.

Re: Diaper rash

Can someone explain to Wendy the best way to strip dipes? I've never done it so I wasn't able to tell her when she asked me personally. FYI she has a front loader and she mentions in the orgional post what kinds of dipes she uses...

Thanks!

It's easy...

First with your "clean" diapers run a hot wash (as hot as your got) with 2 tsp dawn and 1/4 cup bleach.

Then run another hot wash with nothing.

Finally give your dipes a deep sniff. If they don't smell like nothing or a little chlorine then repeat.

Dry as usual. Then reconsider either your detergent choice or amount or consider regular bleaching to keep the stink at bay.

I have a Kenmore HE washer.. here's my no fail routine...

1. Wash Normal Warm with detergent (ive used Tide and Bumgenius with good results, also a HM I'm testing is working great for me but that's another post)

2. Wash whitest of whites with prewash and second rinse option. With detergent and bleach or vinegar. Dry as usual.

Warm washes help to preclean the dipes, warm water breaks up fats and oils, aka poop. 2 full washes because FLers use less water and this helps get more water through the diapers.

By detergent I mean 2 scoops BG or Tide to the 1 line or 1 tide pod. Diapers have poop and need a good clean and enough detergent. Bleach doesn't hurt my diapers. And bleach really keeps synthetic material clean.

Also never go more than three days between washes and spray pb Poo off really well.
