Another Paypal shipping question

I have a small amount of prefolds to ship, weighing 1 lb 4 oz. Shipment is pretty far away.

Flat rate envelope is cheaper than priority. When I purchase flat rate envelope postage through paypal, can I use a flat rate padded envelope, or does it only work for the cardboard one? I *can* get the diapers in the cardboard one, but they would be a lot happier in the padded envelope.

I'm not an expert but have seen peops here say that the flat rate padded shipping cost is higher.

Yes, when I look on the USPS site, I see that it is a bit more. I'm OK with that, but I CANNOT figure out how to ship a padded flat rate envelope online. Every time I try to do it with either Paypal or the USPS site, it sends me into flat rate envelope land, which seems to be just the flat rate envelope. To make matters worse, the envelopes that I have are flat rate legal size, which also seems to cost more. Again, that's not one of the options I can choose.

Someone help me, please? I need to get this stuff packed up!

I pay for the cardboard envelope and use the padded one and then stick another 20 cent stamp on it or I pay the extra 20 cents at the PO when I mail it.

I use the padded and stick a reg stamp on top of it to cover the extra costs.
