Weekday birthday party

Curious if you think a weekday afternoon birthday party is rude for a 4 year old.

Background: this is the 1st year my son has enough friends to warrant a party but my husband works on weekends. Can't put on a party with 3 little ones by myself. He has Wednesdays and Thursdays off. Think throwing a party one of those days is rude ? And if not, think anyone would show up?

If they aren't going to school at that time, I don't see how it's rude. If my 4 year old daughter was invited to a Wednesday afternoon party, we would definitely come.

They are in school from 8 to about 2 everyday. These would be his classmates. We'd do the party maybe at 4 ish and it would only be an hour to n hour and a half.

Re: Weekday birthday party

I did a Thursday afternoon party for my 5yo daughter this year and last year. It was great. We only had a couple of her friends over, and there was no pressure for it to be a long drawn out affair. A couple games/activities, snacks, and cake, good-bye

I don't think its rude but I'm not sure if parents would want to or be able to come. You could send invites and see how many RSVP I've thrown a few on weekends and no one came.. the kids were so dissapointed.

Honestly I would rather more kid parties be during the week. Who wants to spend their weekends going to birthday parties? There is never enough time on the weekend and it would be better to have less obligations!

I had my 2 year olds party last year mid week but it was just my sisters kids and one friend. My niece in kindergarten went to a weekday party this year too on a half day.

I'd rather go right to the party from school just because otherwise it will end at 5:30 which is rush hour and dinner making time. Just a thought.

Re: Weekday birthday party

We've been to lots of weekday afternoon parties. They tend to be directly after school, on the short day (12:45 dismissal) and at park/location close to school. I think they are great. The weekends are really busy as it is.
