I was justtt in the same boat at you, looking for a swing and not knowing which to get!! I had a gravo sweet peace for my dd but she was a cling-on baby so we never used anything like that... I now need one for our future foster babes and ended up buying a Fisher Price snuggabunny swing and bouncer off of Craigslist.. So far I LOVE it. No complaints at all. It plugs in, looks nice, it's super soft, swings both ways

We had a Fisher Price Papasan that ate batteries with DD1. She loved it. It was instant, lasting sleep for hours. With DD2 we got another Fisher Price Papasan called Snugabunny and IT PLUGS IN! It is perfection!

Re: Do you have a swing for you baby? Are you happy with it?
I have the fisher price rainforest one for DD2. I had a cheap one that ran on batteries for DD1, and she loved her swing, but the battery thing was a giant PITA, so I would not even consider buying one that didn't plug into the wall. DD2's not nearly as in love with the swing, but there's been a couple of nights that was the only way I could get the child to sleep at all. In the early days it was the only way I could pee without listening to someone cry too. I bought it from my SIL for $50, and will probably sell it for close to that if I ever get around to taking pics of the baby gear I don't need to list it all.

Re: Do you have a swing for you baby? Are you happy with it?
We have one that we borrowed from a friend. We could live without it, but I am glad we have it and we do use it. We didn't use one for our first child, but with two little ones now it's a nice break once in awhile.
DD doesn't love it, but she doesn't hate it. If I need to get something done or take a little break from her or do something for our son, then it buys us some time and keeps her content for a bit. Yesterday I watched a friend's 16 month old for awhile, and so I put her in there and she happily watched the two boys play and I was able to focus on them more closely. I was very glad we had it! We probably won't keep it much longer, especially once she's big enough to put in the activity center/exersaucer type of thing.

Oh, and ours plugs in and I agree that that's a must!

Re: Do you have a swing for you baby? Are you happy with it?
I have the Bright Starts Ingenuity cradle & sway swing. I absolutely LOVE this swing. The seat swivels to swing either way and it is so quiet when turned on. It does run on batteries but I used this swing with my first child and now with my second and am still using the same batteries! I couldn't recommend this swing or one just like it enough.

Re: Do you have a swing for you baby? Are you happy with it?
My babies all loved the swing we have. It's the Fisher Price Rainforest one. It plugs in and swings side to side (or front to back but we never use it that way). Plan on pulling out out again for #4. I never use the music and only rarely use the mobile. They just love the swinging.

Do you still have the old one? I was in the same sort of situation. I bought a used one for my first and she barely tolerated a swing. I feared my son would be the same and I waited and used the old one and he disliked swings too. I just ended up not "wasting" the money. We were visiting a friends and used her fancy, expensive swing for my son with the same results and that clinched it.

Re: Do you have a swing for you baby? Are you happy with it?
We loooved the Fisher Price Rainforest swing with my youngest. He was a big baby, and it had enough power to do the job. It plugs in, so no batteries. (Our last one had a wimpy motor and ate D batteries like crazy.) The music is actually really pleasant, too. My big kids would turn it on just to listen to it.
