Toddler poo issue

18 month old dd had a stomach virus back before Christmas. Ever since she had had intermittent loose stools (not diarrhea but loose/soft and irritating to her skin) vs light colored soft stools vs small amounts hard stool. Do you think it's just her gut recovering from the GI bug? I was thinking of trying probiotics?

Re: Toddler poo issue

I think probiotics would be really helpful. My son has always had kind of a sensitive stomach, probiotics always help him get back to normal after a tummy bug much quicker than he would without them.

Another for probiotics.

Also could you wrangle up arrow root powder soup? That one really stops the loose stools. The moment either of my boys have loose, green/smelly poop I give them Lactobacilli probiotics 3 times for the next 2 days, and give Arrow root powder "Ganjee" (thick soup-South Indian) as meals. I add plain yogurt to it.

And a drink my boys like a lot is plain yogurt blended with salt and a lot of water. Like 2 spoons of yogurt and a cup of water. I add a couple of coriander leaves. Brings out gassy burps.

And its also said that after a bout of diarrhoea it is good to give a dose of Zinc supplements-which again help toughen the digestive system.

Re: Toddler poo issue

If y'all do yogurt or kefir, you could do probiotics that way. We usually do kefir smoothies at our house.

Im in India and we get Powdered probiotic called Bifilac-needs reconstitution. But my goto is ampoules of Enterogermina. I think in the US you get 'Culturelle' and another fm the brand Nature's Way. (I forget the name)

Re: Toddler poo issue

my 2 year old would have poo issues where he would do tiny poos like 20x a day really loose and irritating and he always acted like there was more he just couldn't get out. He ended up with sores on his bum. I had taken him to the dr for it before but it would just keep happening. Finally we saw a pediatrician who gave him miralax and said he was really constipated. I am not sure why as he does eat pretty healthy, but that stuff WORKS. ALso she told us to put mylanta or milk of magnesia on the sores because it lowers the ph so the acid in the poo doesn't burn him, then put on heavy diaper creme. Little man is soooo much happier now.
We had given him probiotics before and they seemed to help a little at first but then they really didn't do anything. You can always try them and if they work for you great and if not you have some other options
I wish you the best! Its aweful having to change a toddler who knows diaper changes are painful

None, just a 24 hour stomach virus that we all "enjoyed"
