Free Funnix Downloads how to q?

If you've done this successfully walk me through how you did it...I finish the download and then click on the lesson, it brings up 2 files, when I click on either file I get a message saying that the Windows doesn't recognize the file type...so I try use the web to find a file program to read the file type and it says Windows can't find one....any advice? I have 'til the 15th to download it...and I've contacted tech support too.
