Re: Pros and Cons to Natural Fiber Inserts???
I started out with gDiapers and their hemp inserts, which I just didn't like the whole system and after a few months switched it up to pockets with MF inserts. After about a year I am buying hemp and cotton inserts for my pockets and transitioning toward a simpler squishy prefold/cover stash for my next baby, due in March. Besides the annoying stuffing of the pockets, that fleece can get gunky and you have to hand scrub it...but I digress.
I have been using flip prefolds in a variety of covers and can say that they just stay squishy and become more absorbent with each wash. I like that you don't have to be so careful with the inserts and they seem to wear better as well. My MF inserts that came with my Charlie Bananas (my favorite pockets!!) have seen a LOT of action and are starting to look dingy, but instead of buying replacements I'm going for hemp. I would say buy a few and see what you think, I know a lot of people end up here especially if they are diapering more than one kid with their stash. Natural fibers just seem to stand up to the wear and tear much better! |

Re: Pros and Cons to Natural Fiber Inserts???
I've read some people will pair mf with hemp/bamboo because mf absorbs quicker?? Or something like that...that's why I was asking about drawbacks. I deffinitely think I'm done with MF though. The few natural fiber dipes I do have are completely smell free.

Re: Pros and Cons to Natural Fiber Inserts???
definitely ditch the microfiber for natural fibers. there are no disadvantages. we love cotton or bamboo. hemp can get a little stiff, but I don't think it always does. everyone says thirsties prefolds stay soft.
