Re: Tamiflu, WWYD?

I would not take it in early pregnancy unless I had reason to be concerned that I was at greater risk from the flu than from a Class C drug.

Re: Tamiflu, WWYD?

Thanks for all the opinions, ladies. I was kind of feeling like a weirdo for not jumping to take it.

You shouldn't ever take Advil or other NSAIDs (Aleve) while pregnant. They're big no-nos.

Re: Tamiflu, WWYD?

ABSOLUTELY NO WAY! But I had a terrible terrible adverse reaction a few years ago, pre-babies. My reaction was so bad that I thought I was losing my mind (not kidding in the least) and my hubby was minutes away from calling 911 and having me taken to ER to sedate because I was talking gibberish and not in control of my arms and legs. It was horrendous.... I stay away from that stuff!

I called my OB today because I have flu like symptoms and I was told tamiflu is only effective in the first 48 hours so I wanted to know if I should be seen right away. He gave me something for nausea and told me to take tylenol to keep my fever down. He also told me to go to the ER if I couldnt keep fluids down for 24 hours. He was not comfortable with me taking tamiflu (I am 26 or 27 weeks)

No!! The only data on pregnant women shows a much higher risk of birth defects. Absolutely not.

Re: Tamiflu, WWYD?

If you get it and have trouble breathing I would ask for a steriod shot or pill - at least that is natural in your body. Make sure you keep your feaver down too... I am almost 9 weeks and so scared of getting it!!
