You're not very likely to get sick from canned foods anyway! They're shelf stable! Things you're more likely to get food poisoning from are fresh. Would you eat a steak, pork chop, salsa, mixed salad? Those are on the top of the list!

I've gotten mild food poisoning from 3 very nice restaurants and pretty nasty food poisoning from some chicken satay at a baby shower.

I have Crohn's Disease so I am so careful about eating food that may not be good anymore. I would have tossed it.

I would have tossed, but I'm crazy about expiration dates! I toss stuff the day before it expires. (And it drives DH crazy...)
