Re: How did first child's birth weight compare to your other children?

My first was 9lbs 10oz. I had expected my second to be similar if not bigger as I've always heard that subsequent babies are bigger than the first one, so I chose to ignore newborn cloth, as DD1 would have been out of them in only a few weeks by weight (didn't start CDing with her until she was about 4 months). Instead I planned to sposie for the first few weeks and then go to cloth.

Imagine my surprise when my second was almost a full 3lbs smaller at 7lbs 2oz. She would have been in newborn cloth for months if I had bought them, the OS diaps I had didn't fit her until she was almost 4 months old. DD1 had gone right into the medium rise setting at that age, and here they were gaping at the legs still on the smallest setting on DD2. She's 8 months and still on the smallest setting in some brands.

ETA: both girls were 39 weekers. DD1 was 39+2, DD2 39+6

6lb 11oz
7lb 10oz
7lb
7lb

I consider myself to be a person who has 7lb babies, even though the second was bigger. My first might have been bigger, unfortunately he was induced a week early by my calculations. The others were pretty much 40 weekers, born at home.

I used infant (2x6x2 and 4x6x4) prefolds on my first 3 and GMD oranges on my last one. The latter only lasted maybe 2 weeks, but I was glad to have them just for the superior newborn fit.

Re: How did first child's birth weight compare to your other children?

My first was 6lb, 10oz, the last was 9lb, 6oz. Out of 4. They kept getting bigger.

Any baby over 8 lbs can usually do smalls, depending on the brand. The only one I really got to CD as a newborn was #3 and he was 8, 12. Newborns lasted literally a week or maybe 2 at most. Not worth the money. If I were in your situation, I would buy only a few newborn things, and focus more on a small stash.

Mine were both 7 pounds 9 ounces.

Of myself and my siblings, we ranged from 6-1/2 pounds (the first, who was 3 weeks early) to 10 pounds 9 ounces (the 4th of the 5 of us).
