Anyone else get rashes/super dried out skin stuffing diapers?
Since I started stuffing my fuzzibunz(4 days ago), and other random pockets. I've noticed my stuffing hand has been getting really irritated. Am I the only one this happens too?

I find touching the microfiber on a regular basis does awful things to my skin.
Part of the reason I switched to natural fibers and flats for stuffing. |

Microfiber also irritates my skin. But, before DD was born, when I prepped DD's diapers in a cd-safe detergent, I had a serious reaction. I was itchy, red, and blotchy all over. I had to switch to washing her diapers in my sensitive detergent.

The first time I touched microfiber, my skin crawled. It snagged on my dry hands, too. It was pretty much a no-brainer that I would NOT be using MF, and I never missed it

Re: Anyone else get rashes/super dried out skin stuffing diapers?
MF inside DD's pockets dries her out really badly, as do sposies. Our Dr actually suggested I used a natural fiber to stuff. I was a bit cranky about that, but she does well with cotton and with hemp. I made some cotton doublers to go over the MF to keep her from getting too dry; that seemed to help some. DH won't touch MF because it snags on his hands!

Re: Anyone else get rashes/super dried out skin stuffing diapers?
my curiosity is. I know FB makes a cotton insert now, but it doesn't say the dimensions. The inserts in the FB perfect fit are HUGE, but the minky inserts in the elite are tiny, which makes me think the cotton ones might be very similar and if so I wonder if it would be just as absorbant as the mf ones that are soo big. does anyone make giant sized natural fiber inserts? I have bamboo and hemp doublers, but I assume they wouldn't be absorbant enough in place of an insert.

I replaced my microfiber because of this. It works fine for me and I dont experience stink issues but the feel is jsut tto much and the dryness is a deal breaker.

If you do want to try flats, the fold in my sig line fits well in pockets.

Re: Anyone else get rashes/super dried out skin stuffing diapers?
The Fuzzibunz brand hemp inserts rock. They are very similar to the original Joey Bunz hemp doublers (not premium). They take almost a month of washes to reach full absorbancy, but man are they trim and soft and absorbant once they finally get broken in. I keep looking for more but they're always sold out everywhere. These ones you can use as inserts alone; Most of the other ones I have only can be doublers.
Mf sets off my excema really badly...you are not alone. I put a layer of Cjs on my hands before I start stuffing usually. Last edited by kirst; 01-11-2013 at 12:39 AM. |
