OHHH nice!!! So... How does this work as an outer? Is there a PUL layer underneath? I am looking to make more than just PUL diapers

Those are too fantastic for words!!!! Great job mama! Also very interested in how this works? Please let us know! My mom is going to start attempting making diapers and she wants to do minky outside. Do you use a hidden PUL?

Yes there is a hidden PUL layer. I create the outer part from minky fabric, then glue it onto the pul layer using a glue stick. Then I sew as normal. The minky doesn't wick like a cotton outer would since it is synthetic. Actually I have even used them overnight without a problem, as long as you have enough absorbency.

ETA: just wanted to clarify that the minky layer is all sewn together into one piece, then I stick the Pul layer onto it, in case that was confusing!

The other nice thing about it is you can add the ruffle, as long as you don't add it where the layers are stitched together, you don't want it being stitched to the PUL layer because you will end up with wicking. This is what I like about working with minky outer and hidden PUL, you can use a cotton applique or anything stitched onto the minky layer as long as it is not close to the edges.

One more question, the purple one doesn't look like minky. Is it PUL? Thanks again for taking the time to answer!

Yes, it's just PUL. For me the jury is still out whether or not the joined PUL is going to leak. I have only used it once so far so not sure!
