Re: Basically its Friday!!!!

Oh and as I was reading the work-log today I found a piece of paper mentioning a recall on an item....that we have 3 of in our freezer. Not happy!

I know I used 2 at least and Fynn has had a really rough week with his diaper-fillings.

We'll get the money back on the ones still in the freezer but it's not good.

I'd love a yummy bagel.....we're having instant Chinese noodles for dinner tonight. Not the best dinner ever but it's quick and I'm tired.

I have found what really helps me on trips is to write down what to pack. Then I don't overpack, and I have a checklist when we are coming back to make sure I didn't leave anything behind.

WTG Janine on the work compliment! Woohoo!

I think I have used all my luck today. I just posted on FB. I was pricing what it would cost to get any random set of china for 8 at Salvation Army, because I am not thrilled with the idea of having a dinner party on Corelle plates. In looking at all their dishes, I found a random assortment of our wedding china that was discontinued ten years ago, which we have not replaced broken pieces to completion to the full set of 8 because it is too expensive. 12 random pieces for $12. I came back and looked up all the pieces on Replacements Ltd, and it is over $250 worth of china. Score! I swear when we registered, we got it because it was $40 a place setting that went on sale every weekend for $25. At Foleys.

Re: Basically its Friday!!!!

Ok, so yesterday G's teacher sent this:

Hi Mrs. C, There was more hitting today... nothing vicious, but not a habit that I would like to see continue. I am going to have Ginger speak with the principal tomorrow. I spoke with <principal> after school, so she is aware of the situation. Thanks, Sharon P.S. If we continue to see this behavior, we may want to sit down together with Ginger to discuss it after school one day. We'll keep this option open and see what happens after her visit to the office.

So I reply thanks for keeping me informed, she's had consequences and a new reward goal to work towards, and I told her to expect to talk to the principal today about helping her improve her behavior. Then I told her that part of the issue is she doesn't understand the severity of different offenses, to her it is all a big list of stuff she can't do, and and to keep in mind she really isn't affected by being sent to the principal in itself, it is just another adult that is reminding her of the big list of stuff not to do. That we just have to keep reminding her to follow the rules, and try to impress the severity of hitting and someday it will stick. Not in those words, much more PC, and CC'd the principal. Then just now I get another email from her teacher.

Good morning! Ginger came to school this morning and marched herself down to the principal's office and announced, "We have something to talk about!" Mrs. B gave her a strategy to use when Ginger was feeling like she wanted to hit someone. I'll let you know how things are going. Thanks for talking with Ginger. She seems ready to take the challenge!

You can't make this stuff up.

Cheryl what are the consequences for hitting in school? Is she hitting the same person or just whomever upsets her?

Re: Basically its Friday!!!!

She is hitting anyone that she thinks is being unjust. Not all the time, and not hard, but apparently several times a day. I have been really hypervigilant about it because at her old school, you don't get to go to recess and it could get her suspended. Apparently at this school, unless blood is drawn or something, you can be reprimanded 3x before a note goes home. On the note, there is a distinction between level 1 behaviors, which are classroom managed, and level 2, which are office managed. So her note home this week was level 1 physical contact, not level 2 aggressive physical contact.

Level 1 offensives means:
Student informed of rule violation
Describe expected behavior and reteach school-wide behavioral expectation
Contact parent via referral form
Social worker is copied on form.

Level 2 is:
Inform student of violation
Send to office with the referral form, and the social worker is copied on form.
Principal contacts parent
Student completes Reflection Sheet as a requirement to stay in school.
Both referral and reflection sheet is sent home requiring parental signature.

And there are lists of consequences, although they don't call them that, that the teacher can do for level 1 and that the principal can do for level 2. The worst of the level 2 is in school or out of school suspension.
