humidifier help!!

Just bought one because my baby is sick...and realized it recommends distilled water.

So...does anyone here NOT use distilled water?

I'm not going to be cheap at my dd's expense, but if I don't need it I'd rather not go buy it...

Thanks!

Re: humidifier help!!

I've never used anything other than regular old tap water in our humidifiers. I do clean them with vinegar, but probably not as often as I should....

We use tap water but it gets funky quick. It lasts a little longer if we boil the water first.

Re: humidifier help!!

It recommends distilled water because the actual unit can get calcium and mineral deposits on it. You will just want to clean it often (which may require soaking it to loosen up the deposits). Using it with tap water won't harm your child or anything, it is just easier on the humidifier.
