So, tonight my husband and I went to an after Christmas party. We were supposed to bring two white elephant gifts. If you are unfamiliar with "white elephant" gifts, basically it is a gag gift, or something that you just want out of your house.
I put together one gift, but then had trouble finding a second gift. I had just sent two boxes on a donation truck yesterday, and I kicked myself for not keeping something for a silly gift. My husband actually got mad at me, and this was his reaction - "See, this is the problem with you giving away so much stuff." He later apologized, and helped me put together a funny gift. Looking back now, tho, it is really funny that my husband was upset about us not having useless stuff around. However, it is also uplifting to realize that we don't have tons of useless stuff around
p.s. I just read this to my husband, and he laughed. He said it was ok that I post it

Oh my gosh, we actually have an extra (new) toilet seat in the basement! That would have been great. Completely forgot about that!!

The gift we put together was actually my husband's idea and was quite funny. We went with a romantic theme - men's body mist (it was called "Man Spray"), scented bath salts and soap, a box of date night idea cards we had received as a wedding gift called "Simply Romantic Nights", and a box of colorful dripping candles (which was something I thought my DH would never part with!)

That is funny. "Darn you for getting rid of all our useless stuff! Now we can't get rid of it!"

I know!! I think my DH later recognized the irony of the situation, but in the moment he was sincerely upset....which, of course, led me to be upset! I have not felt his full support with my purging efforts, so it hurt to think that he was mad about me purging too much useless stuff. He did apologize later, and has expressed that he appreciates my organizing / purging efforts. I just wish he would get on the purge train, too!
