Re: Flu Shot During Pregnancy

I thought you weren't suppose to get it until after the first trimester? I get it, but usually wait till a little later in my pregnancies.

I got it both times, and with DD I was pregnant the year you had to get the H1N1 separately. The flu is no joke and reactions to vaccines are so rare, it's 100% worth it to me.

Re: Flu Shot During Pregnancy

I would never get a flu shot, ever, ESPECIALLY while pregnant. And FWIW, I am pregnant and just got over the flu, all 2 weeks of he11 of it. I have never been that sick in my life, literally, but I would do it again in a heartbeat before I injected that vaccine into my body and exposed my baby to it - risking fetal loss or life-long disability.

Re: Flu Shot During Pregnancy

I've always denied the flu shot, pregnant or not. One year hubby got it and that was the one year he got the flu so since then he doesn't get it either. My provider (OB) never brought up/suggested that I get the flu shot. (FWIW I'm just over 36 weeks now).

We don't get the flu vax, but I have several friends that do fully vax and got themselves and thier children the flu vax this year and most of them have had the flu this year.

A friend also sent me this blog post about the flu shot, the guy who writes it points out some things on the flu vax insert that it seems a lot of people do not realize. http://modernalternativehealth.com/2.../#.UPL9qxCVu01

I got the flu vax in 2011 when I was 24ish weeks along. No issues, and first flu shot I have ever got as well as last. Just because I didn't know then what I know now. Everyone needs to do their own research and decide what is best for them.

I wish I had gotten it instead I got the flu so did everyone in our house and we have been beyond sick 2.5 weeks later we are still miserable. Our flu did have fevers and settled into pneumonia it has been terrible.

My mom has a weak immune system from anti rejection meds and spent Christmas with us while we were contagious and she never even got a sniffle.

Re: Flu Shot During Pregnancy

I think 11 weeks is kind of early, but that being said I got the flu vax this year at around 26 weeks pregnant. I'm not big on vaxes (I'm resistant to getting T-dap) but its been nice to be one of the only ones in the house right now not sick. I'm pretty sure that DS1 has the flu (poor kid). Three-week old DS2 does not (although DS1 did share the pinkeye with DS2. Fun times).

I did. Make sure you tell them you're pregnant and they'll give you a dosage in a syringe instead of out of the multidose vial. I get it every year, never caused issues in any pregnancy.
