We almost missed our milk pick up because DS took an impromptu nap. Luckily it is only about 3 minutes away. Lol. But sometimes it is so hard to get him ready and out the door, much less if I have to wake him up to get him ready. I know this will be worse with two littles.

Re: weekly chat Jan 14-20th

We made it 10 minutes early and then they never called me back for my lab... so we sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes. But the kiddos were entertained playing and watching the fish. We briefly heard the heartbeat. DS was crying because DD accidentally poked him in the eye with her Magic Treehouse book and he was laying on top of me while the MW was trying to get hb with the doppler lmao. She found it, listened for about 3 seconds and lost it.

I am having blood pressure issues, so I am being told to drink LOTS of water and eat more salt and TAKE IT EASY-- ie not picking up DS and fighting with him while he is flailing lol. My BP drops drastically when I stand up and then raises rapidly to catch up and leaves me dizzy, huffing for breath and my heart pounding. I've also got my epi pen & inhaler rx to get filled, so I am good!

Anyone else feel like their pelvis is being sheered in half when they take steps?

I had this with both of my other pregnancies... but it started a bit earlier with them, so I thought I was getting off free this time LOL

no yet...but I'm only 8 weeks.

I am dealing with horrid heartburn and queezy feeling that I can't get anything done during the day, and then have to deal with dh when he gets home "why aren't the dishes put away"...never says it but you can tell, by the dishing clinking as he puts them in the dishwasher

Re: weekly chat Jan 14-20th

i have a nasty cold and have been running fevers for the past few days. all I want is some sudafed and ibuprofen!! but alas am avoiding both and drinking elderberry like it's going out of style. I would try eating some garlic but add that to my already queazy tummy and I think it would be a disaster. Any other good safe pregnancy cold tips I am missing? I have a humidifier and am drinking lots of water. juicing oj/carrots every day..... I just feel miserable and haven't left my room in three days!! my poor daughter has watched more TV lately.

Re: weekly chat Jan 14-20th

Haven't been on DS over the weekend or until today. Too much going on here, so had to sit here and catch up on the reading.

So sorry homebirthmom! Going the natural route will be so much easier.

AFM.....we got somewhat good news yesterday at DS's dr. appointment. Dr. thinks that he may not have a major neurological issue after all. At first he wanted to totally disregard the radiology reports that indicated that his L5 vert. did not fully close before birth. However, after listening to DH and I and how we are concerned that DS may not have a lot of feeling in his legs in regards to how he feels pain, he wanted to see him again in 6 wks after some PT. The Dr. seemed to think that with some PT he'd eventually learn to stand and walk, but that the issues that he could have with his back really shouldn't be keeping him from learning how. He seemed to suggest that if there is a physical problem keeping him from standing or walking that it could be with his hips instead of his back. That means another doctor, another referral, and more waiting for a diagnosis.

So in short, we left the office kind-of thinking it may not be his back, but we really aren't sure what the problem is. Not a whole lot of answers, but as long as the issue isn't his spine then the outlook is a little better....at least that's what I think. I contacted the EI program and they are supposed to come out Friday and do an evaluation with him to get him started with PT. Dh finally decided after talking to the dr. that the EI program would probably be the best way for us to get PT for him...otherwise I would have to drive our big suburban over an hour who knows how many times a week to the nearest PED PT specialist.

DH and I were concerned about exactly how much pain DS feels in his legs because of an incident that happened last week. Because of how he scoots around, the fact that we live in an old home with hardwood floors that need to be refinished, and he refuses to keep socks and shoes on, DS is constantly getting splinters and sticks in his feet. We check him every night, and get out any that we find.....it's really all we can do until we can afford to redo the floors or we somehow figure out how to keep shoes and socks on the boy. Anyway, he got a NASTY spinter in his foot last week. DH had to dig for a while to get it out. It started bleeding and he never even flinched. We were perplexed because you can tickle his feet, moves them, etc, but he didn't flinch when he started to bleed. In fact he was laughing, honking my nose, etc. He acted like there was nothing wrong. The dr. said that lite sensitivity, like tickling, and pain are carried by different sets of nerves (didn't know that), so if there is an issue of him not feeling pain that could be associated with a problem with his spine. So....really and truely......he still could have something wrong with his spine, but it just may not be why he isn't standing or walking yet.....he'll be 14 m. next week.

I'm getting frustrated. I'm tired of not knowing why my son isn't making ANY progress, except with the upper parts of his body. If he's going to be in a wheelchair all of his life, that's ok.....We'll accept that and move on......but if not I just wish someone would please tell me what is wrong so that we can fix it. I know my hormones are all over the place and I've had periods of weepiness off an on for the past two weeks, but I just feel so overwhelmed today. Maybe a good is what I need.

As far as the pregnancy goes everything must be going fine. I finally have gotten out my maternity clothes, my boobs are huge (tmi), I'm emotional, tired, vomiting several times a day, and now craving Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

So sorry this was so long. I wanted to let everyone know what happened at his appointment and then I ended up just wanting to get out my frustrations with the whole situation out. I'm trying REALLY HARD to keep it all together for everyone else and sometimes I just feel like letting it all fall apart to let myself feel better. Thanks for listening mamas.....i'm sure some of you have been in this boat before.
