Am I wrong in translating -30C to -22F? We don't let the kids out below 0, and I was on playground duty yesterday when it slipped below part way through and it was painful.

True...good that you can get good warm clothes there that keep the kids nice and cozy while they play. It would be very sad to have to stay indoors for such a long time.
Ok, I'm off to bed. everyone.

No, you are not wrong in translating that Jess!
But remember that 0F is -18C, so we're looking at a difference of 12 degrees there. Not a ton. And that -30C the windchill, so it if was, say -15C but the wind made it feel like -30C, they would stay in. Where we are it doesn't happen very often.

Re: Basically it's Tuesday
And in MN the windchill is ALWAYS a bitter factor!
Hi all, home from school and my meeting. We ran a few quick errands after school. Then came here, I quickly browned off 3 pork chops in the dutch oven, threw a can of soup over them and into the oven. Then went to my meeting. Jerry took them out at 5 and he and MH ate them with an interesting side dish he made...pasta with feta and grape tomatoes. He tries and it did taste good....just a bit odd with pork chops Now we are settled in and toasty and facing another late start for cold. Nice and I hope Jerry lets me sleep past 4 AM this time!

Re: Basically it's Tuesday
Hola mamacitas. I lost track of the day. Happy bday Heiner. Enjoy Disney Kari.
Here it seems that 10F is the magic number. If the temps are below that, then the kids have to stay inside. I don't think we have hit this more than 2x in the 2 years I have been here though. Not that we don't have days of cold below 10F, I think many of them have been during the break or weekends. I don't have to tell you that I am a Texan and if it is below 30, I am avoiding being outside for any length of time. Luckily I don't have any kids in outdoor sports or whatever that would require me to be. But that wait for the school bus seems a whole lot longer than 10 minutes, I tell ya.
