so ever since owen was about a month old he has had a continual rash somewhere on his body. some times it flares up. when he was itty bitty it would always be on the back of his neck. red scaley patchy and dry blotches. it would get worse if rubbed and no amount of over the counter creams would work. now he is teething and its back but this time around his mouth (along with alot of baby acne) and on his chest. (please note he doesnt drool alot on his chest so im not sure what the irritation is from).
we primarily use cloth diapers (with all f&c on all our laundry) dr. bronners and coconut oil as our main skin care products with him.

the doctor said it wasnt eczema but only took a quick glimpse

the rash mainly looks like this in half dollar sized patches.

what does this sound like to you?

eta: my husband also has environmental allergies, asthma, ibs, and weird harmless skin rashes

I think my baby has eczema, but it is not diagnosed. He reacts to harsh soaps and perfumes. I tried using Tide, but he started breaking out in scaly patches, especially on his legs. From time to time I try again to see if maybe he has grown out of it, but not yet! Recently he started to break out again, and I started rubbing lanolin all over his legs. I did it several times a day, always before bed and also after every bath. His skin finally feels like normal baby skin, which is a big deal. Not sure if this will work for you, and I have no qualifications to tell you if your little guy has eczema, but just wanted to let you know what worked for me!

thanks. i use aquaphor mostly but i have some lanolin too. we also live in minnesota and lately its been around 10 degrees

so i dont think the weather is helping either. i put aquaphor on his mouth 2-3 times a day and bathe him weekly, i then follow the bath with some coconut oil. hopw your lo feels better soon!

my son has small patches of excema that flare up in dry weather and when its hot out. His skin is super sensitive and I have had great luck with the Aveeno Baby Excema Lotion. Its really gentle and clears it right up

that looks like a horrible case of the bits of eczema my LO gets frequently. She had a reverse-diaper rash when really little, so we switched detergents (cloth dipes get rinsed twice) and it improved some. Since we started using Glaxobase (slathering it on while she was wet after baths, then applying Aveno lotion daily in between) her eczema has cleared right up!

What did the Dr diagnose if not eczema?

My dd has had the same thing, on and off, since 4-5 months old (she's now 21 mo). I've been trying to link it to a food since I haven't been able to pinpoint any environmental substance.

he said it was because of owen rubbing his neck along linens and stuff. which when he rubs it diffidently gets worse, but i dont think its the only culprit

it is only a few small patches, so if it is its a mild case. he also doesnt seem to be overly sensitive. so now what do i do?

Eczema is usually a physical symptom of an allergy or intolerance. I would go to a naturopath and get him tested. You can continue to treat the rash, but it won't go away until you eliminate the irritant.
