Re: Enable me...Boxers,Danes,Pitbulls,Bulldogs,etc

Your AB pics are doing me in. I came on here looking for ideas for down the road when we get a dog but now I seriously have AB fever and have been searching the web and liked AB rescue on FB. Of course we should probably wait since I have my hands full w/ our 3 littles and DH traveling for work BUT, I am still going to work on getting DH on board too.
The shedding I have thought alot about and am going to work hard and brush our dog daily and vacuum the main areas everyday and see how good the shedding seems. I admit I get behind on brushing and DH can start doing baths more for Trucker.
Also we have always let our dogs on the furniture but when we got our new couch down stairs we wouldnt let him on it and will do so with any new furniture that comes in the house (except the bed-well depending on the size of the dog).
BTW your kiddos are adorable and their hair is too cute also. I would love if Boston had some body to his hair

The little ones are allowed on the couches but Duke is so big he would take up an entire couch by himself. He thinks he is a lap dog though. He has his own beds, one in our room and one in the corner of the living room. He used to sleep in our bed but our bed is so high that it is hard for him to get up there as he ages. He can jump that high when playing but he isn't crazy about doing it and I got tired of begging him to get into bed at night. I'm not sure what we are going to do with Remus when he gets big, he is used to being on the couch with us and in our bed at night but at some point he is going to be between 50-70lbs and I don't want a big dog on my furniture. He is also going to have a thick coat to deal with which I'm not looking forward to. Duke really doesn't get much brushing, Tharen will take a curry brush to him sometimes for fun but that is about it. He gets a bath every other week or so. I vacuum the floor every day but it is mostly for the dirt and leaves that get tracked in with two boys and 4 dogs than for fur. So far we don't notice a whole lot of dog fur other than right around the crates.

We were very lucky, just after we bought the house I opened the paper and found a Free To Good Home add for Duke and his brother. I would have taken them both but they had already given his brother away. He did not come from the best situation but he settled in here perfectly. After neutering and a bit of training he has been the best dog we could imagine. I couldn't imagine our family without him.

We have an 8 yr old beagle that was used to having a pal until we had her put down and then didnt replace her as we were just starting to have kids and were so busy. He used to be more playful and now he just lays around (except when outside) and I am not sure if it is because he lost his pal or age (probably both) but, I did notice he really quieted down and got more "sad" w/out Kujo (rat terrier/chihuhua mix). We are done having kids though and are life is finally falling into place w/ less chaos and more organization so now I am thinking.

As soon as they sell a bag of dog food, they send an equal amount of dog food to those unfortunate rescue dogs in shelters. So you can make your dog a savior in his own sense.
Will give it a look, thank you

We have a beagle that is a crazy barker when he is outside. How are the AB dogs for barking. I am hoping to find a rescue dog (puppy or young one) and DH wants a male. Would you stick to a pure bred or go w/ a mix? I dont want the personality changed much by adding in a mix so was thinking to go for the straight AB, but not sure I guess. I see boxer mixes but dont need hyper LOL
