stripping? I know it's been asked a million times

Okay, I have never stripped my diapers, ever. Gross, I guess, huh?
Anyway, we are going on vacation next week and I am going to use sposies, so I figured the day before we go would be the perfect day to deal with stripping the dipes. I only have FB's and micro inserts, with a few hemp inserts here and there. Please tell me, step by step, how do you strip? Is the process the same for the diapers and the inserts? Help, help, help??

"You Can Leave Your Hat On" but only after a full glass of wine.

Oh, we're talking diapers?

Dunno, never stripped diapers.

I think most people just run hot washes. The first one can be run with a degreaser added, like DAWN dishwashing soap (just a touch). This should be followed with more hot washes and rinses until there aren't any suds left in the rinse water. You may be able to do this with warm or cold washes too after the first hot wash, but for some reason I am thinking hot is more effective.

I think it is the same for both the pockets and the inserts.

That said, I think striping diapers isn't typically done unless there are problems first, like stink issues or leaking. I personally don't think diapers that have never been striped are any less sanitary than those that have. But to each his own, of course.

i don't think you need to add anything if there aren't any problems. I just stripped because we had bacteria in the dipes, so I added bleach to kill it to one or two go throughs. First do a regular wash though and then strip.

I totally have a little bit of stink - that's why I want to do it. Would Dawn work the best for that?

I do not know if I do it "right", but this is my process. Quick rinse in cold to rinse out poop and pee. HOT HOT wash with Dawn. My scientific amount of Dawn to use is one circle around the machine. To get the water hot enough, you can turn up you water heater all the way or add some boiling water to the tub. I rinse in warm. Keep running hot washes until there are no more bubbles.

I hope this helps!
