GMD hemp doublers are excellent, they do need a lot of prepping (as all hemp does ... boiling is quickest). They also have a nighttime with a fleece top, which simplifies things.

We're battling this right now with my 2 1/2 year old. One night we had success by putting the fitted on, and then putting the hemp doubler outside the fitted, so it wouldn't be too uncomfortable.

If the whole diaper is soaked, you need more absorbency. If parts are dry, you probably need a different cover.

I don't blame you for not wanting to wake her even further to change her!

We used to do really well with a Babykicks hemp fitted, plus a GMD overnight doubler.

I've also heard good things about Green Acre Designs fitted, it's one-size so it's economical too.
