Tie dyeing prefold help?

I was thinking about tie dyeing some used prefolds. Does anyone have an experience with this? Does hanging them in the sun later make them fade? Can you bleach afterwards? Any tips or brands for the dye will be appreciated! Thanks so much!

Yes I have. I've used bleach on them and also line dried. I've had them 4 years and they are a tad faded.

The craft thread would probably be able to help you more. I just dyed mine rainbow, not tie dyed but the biggest thing I can recommend is to use quality dyes. I used Dylon and they turned out great.

Re: Tie dyeing prefold help?

Any time I've dyed anything I've used the dyes from dharma trading. I've never bleached or line-dried tie-dyed items, so no help there. I do have t-shirts that are 5 & 6 years old that have not faded yet, in spite of frequent wash and wear.

Due with a quality dye like the Dharma ones or you'll be dealing with bleeding and fading forever. NEVER use RIT.
