Re: Basically it's Tuesday

Poor Fynn had his first tummy ache tonight. Not long before he went to bed he came to me clutching his belly saying "My tummy is hurting me mummy", Just about broke my heart. He's never said that before. He obviously was in pain. He seemed to have cramps. We gave him some painkillers and a hot water bottle (not too hot) to put on his tummy. He went to bed nicely but still cramped a bit during his bedtime story.

I hope it's not the beginning of something nasty.

Tuesday's done! Whew. I wish I knew why Tuesdays were so hard for my students.

Glad to head that the chart is working for MH, Jen!

Sorry that Shannon tried to be sneaky so she wouldn't have to do her homework.

Cheryl, I am sorry that your mornings aren't working for you right now. In terms of consequences, what would really happen if you DID make the girls walk to school in this weather? They have winter clothes. Our students played outside for 40 minutes today at lunch, and it was 1*F with a windchill of -15*F. Several kids in my class didn't have snow pants, and no one died. Might be just the ticket, actually.

Time for a decaf and some dessert before doing planning and working on report cards.

BUT you are Canadian! So that is the norm there. Here no one is allowed to go outside for recess all week. I would probably get reported to Child Protective Services if I made my girls walk to school .6 miles. And Rosie is SO slow she'd probably get frostbite. And mostly, even though it is .6 miles there, it is not a particularly safe walk. It is on a major road that is 40 mph outside the school zone, sidewalk of course only on the other side of the road, which is never shoveled and lots of hills and slick spots. With their motor issues they'd have a broken wrist before they got 200 feet. If it were just walking on suburban sidewalks or through an open field, it would be a different story.

Jen, I have seen cupcake liners, paper ones, that are meant to be put on a baking sheet. Maybe at Homegoods? Anyway, great for someone who makes them occasionally but doesn't want to store cupcake pans.

For the record, I *have* threatened many times to make them walk to school. Hadn't had to enforce it. Just not really prepared to follow through given the current weather.

Two girls bathed. Bedtime in 30 minutes. Ahhhh.....

However being 150 miles from a homegoods doesn't so much help me tonight.

Second set of 12 worked well
