Store bought juice

I'm trying desperately to eliminate coke zero from my diet. I'm down to about 1 every two days. I drink mostly hot tea and water. I really like carbonated water with a splash of juice, maybe a 4-1 ratio. Question, am I just subbing 1 bad habit for another? I buy organic 100% of the actual juice (ie 100% cranberry or "just cranberry") I've only ever tried cranberry (I have chronic UTI's) and grapefruit (cause it's yummy). Any and all advice is welcome.

If you are just adding the juice to the water, then I would say no. Fruit juice *can* have as much sugar as pop, when comparing apples to apples. But you aren't comparing apples to apples here, you are talking about water with a bit of juice.

Some other things to consider too...

Coke zero I believe has artificial sweeteners, rather than the same types of sugars that "fully loaded" pop would have.

Most types of pop have other artificial ingredients, like colorings and/or flavorings. Real juice does not.

Coke Zero has caffeine, which juice doesn't have.

The carbonated water can still have some of the other negatives of pop, like causing more gas than you would otherwise have, and eating at your teeth. It is still more acidic than straight water, especially if you are adding juices like grapefruit juice, which is also acidic.

Generally, I think what you are subbing is probably WAY healthier, though its certainly not perfect. But then I am not sure there is any 100% perfect beverage. Even straight water can have problems with its various dessved minerals content, or lack thereof.

That's what I do, half and half with club soda & 100% juice. Yes, I still drink soda from time to time but we don't generally have it in the house.

Enjoy what you drink in moderation I don't see anything wrong with it as long as you're not guzzling down tons of 100% juice either.

Imo, much better. I trends to go for more natural, and simpler foods And just moderating things like sugar. So, diluting the juice and not going overboard sound perfect.

I would stay away from Coke Zero because it has aspartame. I don't think you need to stop drinking sodas, but I would recommend you step away from anything that has aspartame. Just drink it in moderation. Like once a month or twice if you feel like deserve it. Eat healthy for the week and have one cheat day where you can eat whatever your tongue desires. Food is one of the great pleasures in life, I don't think we need to completely eliminate that from our life.

my go to was lemon water; something about the flavors curbed my cravings for sodas/sugary beverages and now I'm almost a half year without touching it

I adore club soda. My store has a raspberry seltzer and I buy 2 bottles a week for "special" drinks. Last night I sliced up a cucumber in my club soda and it was nice and refreshing.
