Re: If you had $200-$300 to spend on a machine...

I hear a lot of people really enjoy that Brother serger, and that it is easy to use. The worst I've heard about it (from a dealer) is that it's inexpensive and lightweight because it's sold mostly online, and therefore shipped a lot, so they remove as much metal as possible and replace it with plastic. It's probably great for a starter.

You might not end up using a lot of stitches on your sewing machine, especially if you get that serger.

I have the Singer Stylist II serger & pink sparkly heart it. It was less than $300 from HSN(I love me some HSN) & I have worked it hard for the last year. It's the exact same thing as the Viking HClass 200S. It threads so easily & the stitch is perfect every time.

love my 35mm im not tempted to get the 50mm. if i were to get a lens instead of a machine, i'd get an 85mm!!

OP,
i'd go for the serger

My DH might have a nervous breakdown if I buy one more thing right now. I just bought a Cricut Expression 2 last week. I'm off the google prices on the lens.
Eek done googling! $894 for an 85mm 1.4 for my camera. Dh would not be happy with me. I'll have to think about how much his happiness means to me...
